I can't offer sexual favours and though I can offer food and an accompanying raggedy Andy, those things aren't what matters. What matters is Reach Out and Read and what it offers. Words have a way of soothing me, taking me away from whatever might be troubling me and letting me go to a world vastly different than me. It is my belief every child deserves this opportunity as early as possible. Every child deserves to escape to a world of dragons and pirates. Reach Out and Read gives children an early start in their education but also gives them the tools to imagine. Imagining mermaids and glowing fish is only the beginning. With imagination, anything in life is possible. Even a shy girl becoming an actress. Reach Out and Read, and imagine. |
